Chanukah is almost here, and the festive spirit is all around us! The sweet smell of doughnuts fills the air, making it impossible not to get excited.
We’ve been having so much fun in preparation for the holiday. We’ve rolled up our sleeves to make delicious doughnuts.
We spun dreidels dipped in colorful paint to create beautiful art, and practiced patterning dreidels by color in fun and creative ways.
Our sufganiyot shop has been a big hit, where we’ve pretended to bake and sell the sweetest treats.
Counting candles has also been a blast as we imagine lighting the menorah each night.
But that’s not all! We’ve been learning some useful new skills, like wrapping presents with tape—what a fun challenge!
We enjoyed a visit from our local Firefighters. The children got to meet the firefighters, watch them dress in their fire safety gear, and the older class got to spray the water hose! We also did a fascinating fire explosion experiment.
This week, we were inspired by the Jewish artist Yoram Raanah to create a painting that spreads the light of Chanukah.
We hope you enjoy the beautiful Kotel-inspired Menorah that the children created. We learned about the Kotel, the remaining wall of our holy Beit Hamikdash, and reflected on its significance. The story of the mean King Antiochus and the brave Maccabees came alive as we prepared for the holiday.
Filled with light and joy as we gathered for Chanukah Family Celebrations at Burbank Jewish Preschool all week! It was truly meaningful to have families come together to celebrate the holiday and share in its timeless message. The children had a wonderful time crafting their own wax shammash candles for the menorah, symbolizing the light we each carry within us.
Our Hebrew letter of the week was Tiger Tail Tet in our Cap It program and we practiced sewing around the Tet.
Our English letter this week was Ii and we had fun making ice painting.
We ended the week with a school-wide Shabbat party and animaly.
